Zul Albany began painting seriously from 1995, while still working as an Art Director and Graphic Designer at a publication company and an advertising agency, in Kuala Lumpur. For 12 years, Zul Albany focuses on becoming an abstract painter, and his effort definitely paid off. His participation in the arts have been on display locally and at the international level.
Born in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia; Zul Albany learned his art works through APS Art Class (Angkatan Pelukis SeMalaysia), the breeding of many of Malaysia’s finest artists. Then he shows extensively throughout Malaysia and slowly ventures beyond the realms of his island home to achieve the great works at the Desenta Gallery in Bandung, Indonesia to achieve the great artwork.

EARTH and SKY Series by ZUL ALBANY
Deeper, true, illusions, creed, sins, rewards, god. These are the words that struck one’s mind on viewing Zul Albany’s series of collection entitled Langit dan Bumi, an assemblage of 15 abstract works from a Malaysian artist.
Born in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia. Zul Albany learned his art works through APS Art Class (Angkatan Pelukis SeMalaysia), the breeding of many of Malaysia’s finest artists.Then he shows extensively throughout Malaysia and slowly ventures beyond the realms of his island home to achieve great artworks at the Desenta Gallery in Bandung, Indonesia.
It’s apt that Zul Albany calls this collection Langit dan Bumi, because the sky and earth belongs to HIM, The Almighty. Life in this world is not eternity. Therefore live to the fullest with the guidance of HIM, as the creator.
The fact is inspirations or knowledge/knowhow granted upon man is relatively like a drop of water in an ocean deep. Man can struggle to the fullest but the drive is best owed by The Creator.
The artist tries to convey his messages through the use of dark space in his works to portray emptiness of the soul, with the vibrancy of the colours to play the work of emotions - guidance is needed. WhereasThe moon signifies the Almighty and the Most Merciful.
Each work seems to address the similar issue in the mind of the artist but with different angles so that the concept of the series is strongly binded.
Each artist has their own observation to clarify their own thoughts to the world. Comparing him with the masters of abstract like Wassily Kandinsky, Willem de Kooning, Hans Hofmann, Mark Rothko and Lattif Muhidden will not give him due credit. His works outshine as he emphasize on his ideas and made the viewers sit by his side to examine the subject closely. The painting has a life of its own.
