HI, just a reply about swan wings. I volunteer at a bird rehab, and we have some bird parts for educational purposes. I was able to borrow the wing for use in the studio (I had it a rather long time, but have since returned it.) If I were not a worker there, it would be illegal to have possession of that item, if I am not mistaken. (But maybe not. Swans are actually considered fair to hunt here in AK, many native communities still eat swan.) At any rate, the painting took a very long time, and I am still not completely satisfied with how those feathers came out. Shape and configuration is good, color was very difficult. The feathers are brownish in places, a young bird has brown feathers on the wing. And the flight feathers are translucent, so the background color came through. If I were to do it again, I would choose a different background. The other swan, the Audubon, is a painting of a postcard. In public domaine, thank goodness.

Hi Sheree,

You asked how short I was. I'm 4'9 3/4" on a good day.

Today was just such a day. I spent three hours on a glorious fall day taking photographs in a beautiful botanical garden with my new camera. It was really wonderful!

Hey Sheree,

my daughter works at the HOB in cleveland.  i was just thinking, they may have a website--imagine that!

yes, days off are fantastic and my day yesterday filled the bill.

i have a friend who would appreciate your 3 days for dave mathews.  she's a big fan, goes to see him every summer. it would get interesting when she ran into students at the concert!

Hi Sheree

thanks for your response!  yes, i teach high school art, most of the time it is inspiring and other times draining--like now.  i'm taking a "me" day tomorrow.. can't wait.  i'm taking some work to a gallery, doing a morning yoga class, lunch with my daughter---i showed her your work, she really liked it.  she works at the house of blues in cleveland, she felt that some of you work had the same quality of the work on display there.
