SHOW
December
1, 2007
Preview: 1pm – 5pm
Opening Reception: 7pm – 10pm
Show
runs through January 6, 2008
There
are times when the line between fine craft and fine art nearly vanishes, as brave
artisans push the boundaries of tradition. A connection between the forms has always
existed but also a tension, with craft being dismissed as the lesser
discipline.
The
distinction between art and craft is slowly and gradually being eaten away, but
often faces uphill battles with the mass production of seemingly handcrafted goods reaching a new high. Wired Gallery, which has always given fine
craft equal footing with fine art, is about to take it to the next level this
holiday season with their first annual Fine Craft Show. December 1st to January 6th,
they will feature more than twenty-five artisans who are raising the bar on
fine craft, with artists working in glass, metal, fiber, jewelry, wood, paper,
ceramics and more.
