DATE: 02/28/2008 20:31:00 / MOOD: in love

Hey everyone,

here are a few pieces I did recently with my new Bamboo digital pen.  I am normally a sculptor so these are a totally new direction for me.  Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Steve

Alaskan Bear fishing
DATE: 01/29/2008 13:06:02 / MOOD: happy

Hello everyone, I finally got back on a piece I had put aside for a while now.  I'm doing an Alaskan Brown Bear pulling a salmon out of the river.  I started this piece some time back and got sidetracked.  It seems like when I start something I really want to do it always gets shelved by something I feel more compelled to do.  I don't argue with it, I just roll with the punches.  I like to think there are certain things that I have to do because they need to be born.  This piece was put on hold for about three years and the other day I finally got back to it.  All I had created before last week was the river bank.  I have a weeks worth of work now in the bear.  I figured I might as well document the progress of this piece and maybe it would keep me a bit more focused on the completion.  So, please take a look at the sculpture and feel free to comment.  If you have any suggestions along the way please feel free to say so.

Thanks,

Steve

"The Inheritance"
DATE: 01/07/2008 09:55:59 / MOOD: happy

Cue the music...  Bum bum ba-bum...  I am starting the mold on the next sculpture in my Emotion of Hands body of work.  This sculpture I call "The Inheritance" is another piece meant to raise awareness.  The purpose of the Emotion of Hands body of work is to depict hands in such a way as to illustrate different situations that we encounter everyday that effect and shape who we are.  "The Inheritance" is my attempt at illustrating what we are leaving our children as a result of our daily actions.  Since the photo's were taken I have carved big cracks into the world to show it starting to come apart.  I will update this blog with further images as the piece progresses.  Thanks for looking.

Brain Storming
DATE: 01/04/2008 12:05:21 / MOOD: happy

So, I am sitting in front of my computer this morning going through my daily routine of searching the show listings and working on marketing.  Trying to schedule my new year of festivals and exhibitions, trying to increase my exposure to the world. I will be a full-time artist for three years at the end of May.  I am a sculptor and most of my sales come from art festivals.  I was finally picked up by a gallery this summer but I have yet to make a sale.  I would like to increase my client list this year and become a bit more recognizeable.  So as I sat here trying to come up with new ideas it struck me to start a blog on Brain Storming!  What if we all put together different ideas of publicity that we have used that have worked for each of us and meet here to discuss it.  We could make this blog a circle of friends that could help each other with new ideas and approaches to marketing and use this as a meeting place to help encourage each other.  To help hold each other accountable for certain tasks.   To make sure we have someone to lean on to follow through with those ideas that we may let slip through the cracks.  So what about it friends?  Anyone one up for it?

I look forward to hearing from some of you.

Steve
