Midnight Oils -- Call for Entry

The Smithtown Township Arts Council is seeking works ranging from the macabre to whimsical for Halloween Midnight Oils, to be held October 4 – November 7th, 2008. The exhibition is in celebration of art’s awesome power as a spiritual instrument that helps man to transcend his primeval fear of death and of the unknown. Juror Alain Khadem is not interested in the gratuitously gory, but in works that portray frightening subject matters in a philosophic, romantic, or humorous light. Introspections -- call for entry

The Smithtown Township Arts Council is now accepting entries for Introspections, A Juried Self-Portrait Exhibition to be held August 16 – September 22, 2008. Juror Amy Mackie is an assistant curator at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York. Artists are invited to submit work exploring various modes of representing the self. All media (drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, video, film, sound, performance, and installation) will be considered.
