I envy you, getting to live in Dharamsala. How exciting! I'd love to hear more about it some time. I used to attend initiations and the sangha meetings at the Tibetan Cultural Center in Bloomington, Indiana, which was established and run by Mr. Norbu, H.H. the Dalai Lama's older brother.
Again, your work is beautifully inspiring - I look forward to seeing more.
I was taught in Dharamsala, India, adopted hometown of the Dalai Lama. I lived there for more than 8 years with the Tibetan refugees and did a four-year apprenticeship. Nice to meet you too!
Robin, I usually make the traditional deities on commission, for about $5,000 and up. Each piece takes about 4 to 6 months to produce. The contemporary images take less time and therefore sell for a something less. The lotus, for example is $300, the Pool of Light $2000, and the Three Mongolians $3200.
Your work is quite gorgeous. I'm a practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism myself. I really love the Medicine Buddha and White Tara in particular. You are so fortunate to be able to learn from Tibetan craftsmen. Where were you taught?
