Hi, I'm inspired by many artists. I think the first was Vincent, then came Chagall, Rouseau, Mondigliani, Brett Whiteley, Vali Myers, and the list goes on!!!

Where did you get your inspiration from!  Picasso? I have been trying to get into differnt titles of painting and I noticed that I lean more towards cubism and abstract painting.  I really like the how intense the blues are in this painting.

Just keep doing it.  My Dad's favorite saying is; "if you find a profession in what you love, you will never work a day in your life".  So just go for it and make it you profession, as well as your passion.  The art calender magazine, has a lot of great information.  Subscribe to that and read about all the shows, contest and exibitions.

Thanks for the compliment on my oil painting "Distressed Figure & Blue Window"!  To answer your questions about its development:   If I remember correctly, with that one I had an idea of what I wanted and then took blue paint and thinned it a bit with turpentine and used that to sketch the basic outlines and color-in/block-in the darker areas.  Then I just painted.  For the painting part:  I guess you could say I just follow "intuition" or I just use whatever color "feels" right.  I don't know how to say it in words.  Words just aren't adequate, I guess.  When you can relax and paint from your heart, the art, sort of, "creates itself".  It's pure joy!

Hi, you asked about how to get more of a 3d look using color. I think you have already achieved that in your figurative painting! I tend not to mix colors too much before applying paint because sometimes that makes them lose some of their brightness. I spend a lot of time studying art books to see what other more experienced artist do and try and incorporate their skills in my work.
