The painting, Snow on Christmas Night, is actually an old painting that I painted some time ago. I used it as my Christmas card this past year and it was very well received. So I just thought I would share it with you. I hope you enjoy it, it was painted from life.
May God Bless You !

This is the question that someone always ask, "How long did it take you to do that painting ?" The last painting that I put in my gallery entitled The Russian took 20 years ! And it's only 11 x 8.5 inches. I started it back in 1988 just as a study of textures, this was an exercise we used to do in art class to improve observation and painting skills. As soon as I got the composition together, I took one look at it and said, "Wow she looks like a Russian." At that time I never knew that I would be living in Saint Petersburg Russia. And to my knowledge I'd never seen a Russian except on TV. I started the painting and then got discouraged, and busy with my day job. At that time I was in the printing business. Now in 2008 I finally finished it !And I'm glad I did. It is interesting how life leads us down many different pathes. Robert Frost took " the road less traveled " I always seem to take the long way around.
May God Bless You,
Kenneth Howell
