Hey, Thank you for the shout....I love those kind of things...I leave Sunday for such a week. I was thinking about you and your studio project, since we decided to stop throwing money to my studio landlord and add a room for me to work. I was wondering if you were out raising walls?
Planning is fun, I have it up to 24x20, and am researching putting solar tubes on the South face to feed the boiler during the sunny days, and cut costs on the fuel bill. It looks promising, but I am not totally convinced the payback is all what is said by the manufacturers.
Yes thats really the thing, and getting to speak with other artists. Good luck with "finals" and grades, etc. I just had a tour of that studio of yours....pretty nice! I guess we always feel our spaces are too small, for ideas, anyway. Keep the red exes going through the days, and remember the best three reasons to teach are:
Hey! It's been a while. Thanks for the compliments on my most recent pieces (Neutral 1 & 2 and Metallic 2). I liked the way they turned out too. I want to do more of the Neutral color palette. I haven't been in here ot doing any art lately - tied up painting a customer's house and it's sucking up every bit of my energy. When I get home I'm spent. Can't wait to finish with that so I can get back to some art and get caught up with what's been going on in here. I have a new commission I need to start. It's a still life with lot's of silver.
Checked out your web site. You have a great little studio. Excellent lighting and plenty of work area. If you saw my work "space" you would crack up laughing. I should take a picture and post it. You would never know any paintings could come out of it. Barely any light, no desks or tables - just an easel sitting in our tiny sunroom with a basket of paint on the floor and a tray for holding some brushes. It's ridiculous but it works for now. We have a guest room that my wife keeps saying we can convert to a studio once we have some extra cash. That can't happen soon enough.
I'll be back in here soon I hope. Have a good rest of the week...and since my recent work lit a fire in you - get painting! I expect to see something new very shortly...
Howdy, good for you going out birding... if your'e interested I'll send you some pics form my friend in Australia, you just wouldn't beleive the birds he sees out in the wild on a regular day.
mom called sunday, said all the cousins are meeting at ponderson on June 11th...thought of you! i"ll let you know if we make it up for this.
Thank you! I used cadmium red and caput mortuum for the furrows and trees. Yes, they are work from the VSC. Monday I did a bunch of charcoal studies, then spend about two days per image. The third and fourth are not quite done, and I will post those in a few days (or weeks at the rate I seem to have to work at home). Having 8 days to work w/o interruption allowed me to work on 4 large (44x55)canvases start to finish. Very satisfying after spending weeks in small chunks to do one smaller canvas.
