Tissue paper is applied on top of wet gesso/primer  the gesso is a perfect glue for the tissue.

then I slap on texture....my special blend    joint compound/primer mix  then the color.  the petals are from stencils I make.  I fill the stencils with the textured paint.  when it is dry I prime it again.  then paint... When it is dry I use a heavy crackle varnish.  when the varnis is dry and full of cracks I paint a very watery paint color over it so that it soaks into the craks...then I wipe off the extra....

The texture and color of the vase are beautiful.  Very nice.  I have not ever  worked in this medium before, but this is very inspiring.
