It is a church from the early 1800s in Cades Cove which is part of the Smokey Mountain National Park in Tennessee.  There are quite a number of buildings from this era still standing in the Cove.


 


This church is quite interesting.  When they were putting the ceiling on the main floor the wood was still green and you can see the hand prints of the people that were holding the lumber in place as it was being nailed.  There is also a grave that is marked as the person being killed by North Carolina rebels in 1864.

This looks like a very old church or schoolhouse...What/where is this building? How old is it? Is there any story behind the photo?
