You got the "twist" the cattails always do when they grow.  This image is darker than I remember, did you rework it, I thought you said you were going to, or repaint it?  Supposedly, Loosestrife is forcing out the cattails in our area, but purple loosestrife is so pretty, I think folks have a hard time eradicating it. You might paint again, and invade with some purple loosestrife.  The Nymphs crawl up the stocks, or shoreside rocks and do their transformation.  I looked for the nymph motif on line, such as in the book I have, but can't find one to reference for you.
