This is one of the coolest pieces I've seen in awhile!  Love the arrangement and balance.  The colors are superb.  The idea behind it is great too!  (I like that you mentioned the "going green" bandwagon;  While I'm all for honoring our earth, I do see the green movement could easily become "hip".  For instance, compact fluorescent bulbs are AWFUL for the environment - they release tons of mercury into landfills!  I heard a better/safer alternative is LED bulbs.  But, everyone seems to be pushing the CF ones.)  I love that your piece has a story behind it and that it challenges people to think; not to mention it is just so stunning to look at!!!

Keep on creating beauty!

As you may have noticed, several of my masks are named after Greek mythological characters. As I designed "An Inconvenient Half-Truth" I had Zues in mind. So I started with a stormy sky to give a feeling of power and intensity. I then added a silhouette of a tree with a "twisted" color pallet to try to create an organic tie-in from the heavens to the earth while suggesting lightning-which Zues is always associated with. The design grew to be quite different from where I'd been before with my masks which really excited me.

As I was painting I decided I did not want to include this piece as one of my Greek gods since it was so different from the rest in the series. The colors and intensity in the piece got me to thinking about radioactivity and environmental decay. My thoughts then went to everyone jumping on the "going green" bandwagon. Everywhere I look we are being inundated with "save the environment"...but everyone has their own agenda and most seem to be using it for political or monetary gain. I guess I'll always be trying to look behind the curtain...

I was away on vacation for  awhile, so I looked through your gallery again to see what I'd missed.  This one is kind of different from a lot of the others- not as bright and the tree/vine thing is different.  Why did you name it that?
