Outside the Frame, Wednesday's Show on BHR (sort of)
DATE: 08/11/2009 15:02:29 / MOOD: disappointed
This week's episode of Outside the Frame, Wednesday August 12 at 1PM will be about
Exposure: Do You Feel a Draft? Learning how to
dispatch with an offer to work for exposure that will leave you shirtless in
the end, while remaining open to legitimate opportunities that will advance
your career is similar to walking a tight-rope for most artists. Tune in to
Outside the Frame where we cover the basic rules and guidelines that will serve
as your safety net.
It was announced to listeners and hosts alike last night on Blockhead
Radio that the station will no longer be airing the various talk shows
such as Outside the Frame in favor of changing to a 24/7 music only
station. Therefore, this week's episode will be the final episode of
Outside the Frame on BHR ... well sort of; what I mean by this is that
a podcast of Outside the Frame will be available on my Outside the
Frame blog that will be linked from the BHR front page. Additionally,
during the time that my show is usually aired, Wednesday at 1PM
eastern, I will be available in the BHR chat room for questions or
comments, as well as, to say good-bye to listeners who wish to pop in.
I've enjoyed having the opportunity to bring Outside the Frame to you
through Blockhead Radio and hope that you, the listener, have benefited
as much from the show as your emails and PMs have indicated. Thanks.

Art with Purpose: The Business of Gifting Art

Tune in to this week's episode of Outside the Frame,
Wednesday July 15 at 1PM eastern on Blockhead Radio
http://blockheadradiolive.com/ where we will cover Art with Purpose: The
Business Aspects of Gifting Art to Charities.
Wednesday’s topic on Outside the Frame will cover the many
ways that you can use your art to support your favorite cause or charity. We will discuss how to distinguish between
companies appearing needy to get you to work for free and legitimate charities
that need your help. As an artist who
has supported numerous organizations with my art, services or time I’ve
developed several rules regarding donating my art and I will share these rules
with you.

Is the Fear of Rejection Holding Your Career Hostage?
DATE: 07/07/2009 00:27:38 / MOOD: happy
Tune in to this week's episode of Outside the Frame, Wednesday July 1
at 1PM eastern on Blockhead Radio http://blockheadradiolive.com/ where
we
will discuss Rejection: Arch Nemesis or Ally?
Wednesday’s topic on Outside the Frame will be about rejection and how
to survive it, which is the second most frequent question I get from
artists. Rejection is a fundamental aspect to the business of
selling art yet many artists are terrified by the mere thought of being
rejected. With proper understanding of the rationale behind a rejection
artists can gain some perspective and alter their opinion of rejection
from a feared enemy into a useful ally.

48 for Larry
DATE: 07/03/2009 22:57:29 / MOOD: happy
Every now and then a person comes into your life and upon meeting them
for the first time you feel as if you've known this person your whole
life. Larry is one of those people for me and not surprisingly, I've
come to find out recently, for alot of other folks in the handmade
artisan community. Please read about my friend Larry (written by
Rockerchic)and what we artisans are doing to help ... if you are so
moved, please help us to get the word out by sharing this link with
your friends. If you are an artist and would like to donate an item to
the silent auction that will be aired on Blockhead Radio, email me at
the link below. :) DeDe Sorensen
Larry Hamm over at Chelsea Lynn
Designs on Artfire is a friend of many in the world of
handmade, he is also the voice of The Crazy Train on Blockhead Radio.
Larry has a fantastic wife Janet, and an 8 year old son Jacob who live
with him in Lansing, NC deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Larry is a
friend to everyone and just an all around swell guy. He is most
definitely the “shirt off your back” kind of friend. Right now, all of
Larry’s friends and Blockhead radio are teaming up to help him out in a
tough time.
Larry is a disabled diabetic who currently has lost his health
insurance. His medication alone monthly is over $2,000. Larry is not
receiving disability, he has not been approved yet. His wife is the
only source of income and she doesn’t make enough to cover his
medications. Larry’s doctors have given him an outlook of only 18
months to live if he doesn’t receive a $17,000 gastric bypass surgery
as soon as possible. Larry and his family need all the help from their
family and friends they can get! Jacob and Janet need Larry to hang
around here with them as long as he possibly can! All of his friends
surely want Larry to stick around too!
All of us at Blockhead
Radio are gearing up for the biggest Radiothon you’ll ever be
a part of! July 24th at 6pm until July 26th at 6pm, Blockhead Rod will
be live on the radio for 48 hours straight raising money for our friend
Larry. A silent auction of donated handmade goods will also be going up
on the home page of Blockhead Radio with 100% of the proceeds going to
Larry.
If you would like to be a part of this wonderful event, please email
DeDe Sorensen at: 48forlarry@blockheadradio.com Please donate any
handmade items you can for the silent auction have your emails in with
your donations by July 22nd. If you would like to donate cash for
Larry’s prescriptions and surgery please visit Blockhead Radio July
24th through July 26th. There will be plenty of ways to get your
donations in.
Keep listening to Blockhead Radio for
fantastic indie music, and how you can help Larry Hamm of Chelsea Lynn
