art marketing
DATE: 03/16/2008 09:11:35 / MOOD: full of life

i am reading a book about art marketing.

one of the suggestions in it is an idea on how to do

work that people can identify with and possibly

purchase.

the idea is to ask people who like your work

what it is they  specifically like or dislike about your work.

i was hoping for artists on this site to check out my

page and let me know what they think,

and i will try to do the same for them.

any thoughts?

The hard glare of publicity and the ravages of the cult of personality in our society
wrecks many artists. They have to be strong and their art has to be strong and vital to survive. The great process of mass popularity and mass culture has a vicious tendency to demean art. When you appeal
to the mass you usually appeal to the least common denominator. It is a tribute to the artist who does not do this and never has. They are living proof that quality has a place in mass society. And in some mystical way, perhaps, their success with quality is a reaffirmation of the basic,
positive good of life itself.
