Thanks for the comment, I think it is great when others can see more in a painting than just the subject. Thanks again, and I am looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Thank you for your comment on my painting, "Late Summer Apples." I have enjoyed seeing your work and especially like the way you handle drapery and fabric.  I always struggle with this so, but you have really captured the look and texture. The design of the still life work is also interesting and very solid.  The landscapes are great, but the still life really caught my attention.

Happy painting!

Hi, thanks for your comment. I spend far too much time on my paintings too, so maybe I should try a painting a day??? They usually takes me weeks and even months! I can't imagine painting really fast, but it sounds worth a try. Been out of the loop for a while as I broke my shoulder in January and wasn't even able to lift my painting arm until recently. I've finally  got 60% movement back now and am hoping it will continue to improve.

Hi Carol, thank you for visiting my page and kindly commenting on my art. I enjoyed viewing yor gallery; your work is beautiful, especially your still lifes. Would love to visit Alaska at some point; it's on my to-see list. My best, Kelly

Hi Carol, Thank you for your kind interest in my plein air work. The study was done ‘as if’ in plein air in the studio. I like to capture the fleeting effects of the golden hours of the day with my plein air work. Sometimes I get the timing right, when I don’t I take loads of pictures. Actually I always carry my digital camera with me in the field and take a few pictures right before I start to paint (after doing all the preliminary stuff). Then later back in the studio or camp, I’ll have the shots to jog my memory while finishing the painting.

I like play of shadow and light in your painting ‘West Fork of the Chulitna’; good job there. I also feel your still life work is stronger especially in design and execution than your landscapes. Perhaps their different approaches are what you are after though. I would like to see you push one into the same space as your still life just to see that power expressed in landscape.

Warm Regards, David
