New From Karen's Easel!

11/11/2007 21:51:10 / full of life

*Karen Recently Exhibited Two Abstracts at the Hilligoss Gallery in Chicago!

Women Artists of the West recently had it's 38th Annual National Exhibition, at The Hilligoss Gallery, (This is on Chicago's Magnificent Mile!). The juried exhibition took place November 8th through 10th. Karen and Charles attended. They showed two of Karen's larger works: "Conquistador" and "Swirl", which were prominantly displayed in the gallery.  She enjoyed meeting the staff and talking to to some great artists.

* Two of Karen's Paintings now reside in An Ancient Wood in England!

Two of Karen's Major works were recently purchased by a collector in England. His residence is in The Forest of Bere, near Wickham, Hampshire. His land is designated an Ancient Wood by the Forestry Commission. He tells us that unfortunately, (or fortunately), Robin Hood lived a few hundred miles north, but he understands that Robin did have a franchise operation in his area! The area that he and his wife live in is very interesting. You can see it at:  http://wickham.parish.hants.gov.uk

  *The SOLO Gallery-     Los Gatos

The SOLO Gallery in downtown Los Gatos, CA, is now carrying Karen's beautiful paintings. This is a one-of-a-kind gallery that features very large and unique bronze sculpture, marble sculptures and paintings, as well as jewelry and smaller fine art pieces. These are museum quality pieces. The SOLO gallery is at 233-B North Santa Cruz Avenue, the main street of Los Gatos. Be sure to say hi to the owner, Wade Allen. He can be reached at: 408-395-7400.

*Collectors attended the Los Gatos Show in September!

Karen was well represented in a large booth in front of The SOLO Gallery, directly across the street from "Claws for a Cause III", at C.B. Hannegan's Restaurant, in Los Gatos on September 8th. Karen talked to collectors and the general public about working on her latest, unique, large-format "Ethereal Expressionism", abstract paintings.  The evening event was hosted by Los Gatos Morning Rotary CoolCats and C.B. Hannegan's, benefitting Los Gatos Education Foundation and the Los Gatos Morning Rotary Charitable Foundation. A great time was had by all!

*Viva Las Vegas!  -Sept 28th

*Viva Las Vegas! -Sept 28th
We attended The Las Vegas International Art Expo 07 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Convention Center in Late September. We had a great time! Besides renewing publishing and gallery contacts, we got to see our American and international artist friends from the March-New York Expo.

*UPDATE: Interior Niche Gallery -San Francisco

Look for Karen in San Francisco at the Interior Niche Gallery at 3535 Sacramento St.  (415-567-1466). She has both large and small abstracts and some of her previous works at the gallery, plus she has a Series of 6, oil-on-paper fish pond paintings that are really popular with her collectors. *UPDATE: Art of the West Magazine

You may be aware that Karen was recently in Art of the West Magazine and Southwest Art and hopefully you saw her painting, "Conquistador", in Art of the West's Sept-Oct 07 issue. Check out how many times Karen has been published in newspapers, magazines by checking out her Bio page...Awesome!

*The Big Apple! -The NY International Art EXPO 07

Caught in major March 07 snowstorms, 60 mph winds in the canyons of Manhattan, New York Deli hopping and all!

NYC was fantastic. We set up our booth in the SOLO section of the NY Art Expo 07, with all of the up and coming, unaffiliated artists in the show. There were probably 5 or so aisles of super-creative, oil, watercolor, mixed media painters and sculpturers. It was amazing to wander down the aisles and realize that every one of these artists were treating Art as their own world. Not copying, but creating new visions and pathways for collectors, galleries and museums to follow. You could glimpse new colors, new media, new combinations that you will see in galleries in the years to come. In the middle of the Jacob Javits Center were the large, established galleries from New York, Los Angeles, and Europe as well as well-established internationally known artists.

Just around our booth we made friends of artists from Canada, Russian artists from New Jersey, art professors and teachers from Coral Springs. (check out http://razzadesign.com/, FL and Brentwood, CA and Arizona and as close as Fremont CA, just down the road from us. There were artists from Korea, Viet Nam, France, Ireland, Israel, and South America.

It was a great trip. We made lots of connections in the fine art world and learned much from the more seasoned artists and galleries. If you want to see all of our pictures direct from NYC, check out: picasaweb.google.com/kkallmann
