There's a tree below our deck that is turning orange and red. The air has a feeling of transition. It happens like this in mid-August here in NH. Autumn begins to peek around the corner. Soon, children with bright backpacks will line up to get on school buses, mums and pumpkins will settle on porch steps, and my garden will finally surrender to chaos.
