Three events in one month

02/16/2008 16:44:25 / happy

The month of Feb. 2008 has been pretty active for me, being an artist. The first event this month is the Pulp Art:Works on Paper exhibition. When I arrived to this reception, other artists and participants seemed to show up right at the same time. There was lot of art there, but I still felt they could have displayed two of my drawings instead of just one. As far as communication goes, I only met a couple artists there and I really didn't feel like sticking around for the entire two hours. The reception was from six to eight pm, I left around sevenish.

In a way it felt like I was like the other artists showing up: to see my own work and was curious about the other entries.

The second event this month was when I was invited to be a guest speaker for the Dublin Area Art League(Dublin,OH). I never really feel comfortable about speaking in public, but everything seem to run on all cylinders. The beginning questions that were being asked where on que with my written speech. So I really didn't have to look down to read off anything. I felt for comfortable than I thought I would and the crowd enjoyed every drawing I brought for demonstration. They all seemed amazed by my pen & ink drawings and the transistion of mediums I've used during the past ten years.

My third event will be at the High Road Gallery in Worthington,OH. This is a group exhibtion titled "Art From the Heart" and is sponsored by the Worthington Area Art League. Every member of the league will display a work of art they feel has a personal attatchment to them. My original idea was one of my 34x48in wax pastel works, but it violated the size regulations. Luckily I had a Daze of Blacks & Grays ready to hang, so I'll be exhibiting that.

The good thing about it is Daze of Blacks & Grays was a very personal transition for me during late 2005. I was moving from pen and ink, and moving towards working with a new medium all together. I can't wait for this exhibit to come up because it will be my third exhibition this year and the members of the league seem like good people.

Well, I think I've said enough for now.
