Does anyone ever comment on anything?

Critique can be dangerous for some. In art schools critique gets intense. On an open forum like this a lot of folks who ask for critique are looking for praise. Once folks get a bit more familiar they can comment  about faults a bit more freely.

Well, I appreciate all the comments.  I guess when I started I didn't look far enough into the recent past posts.  I do think a critique forum would be good.  I like hearing good things about my work, but also need to know whats not working.  I'll get some more work posted hopefuly tomorrow.

Thanks again everyone.

Maybe there shoud be a seperate thread for who ever wants to offer up thier works to be critiqued. Not in here though cause it would wind up getting too burried under.   It could be that in such an open site people may be hesitant and may think it a little forward to tell someone how to make thier work better.  But if the place was designated for it that would be a differnt story altogether.

I usually dont critique someone's work unless they ask me to, but do compliment when I see special pieces that touch me.

Hi Jon4now, welcome to the site.  People do comment, and as flstormz pointed out, members who post often tend to get more interaction from other members.

You can list info about your uploaded images in the title field, and you can also put tons of additional info in the comment field of each image.  To open the comment field, just click on the image, and a comment box opens underneath.

Flstormz, the forum is not locked.  Sometimes the connecting link doesn't work for some users.  The problem is quirky, and may have something to do with cookies or with the links.  The tech people have been trying diligently to fix it, but it behaves differently for each user which makes the problem difficult to find or fix.  I found that this helps:

in your internet browser, clear your temporary internet files and cookies (you need to clear all your scuttlebutt cookies, at least), and restart.  After you log in to scuttlebutt again, you should be able to access the full forum.

To maintain full access, create and use a seperate bookmark for the forum.

ta ta,

Annie

People do comment. I found usually after new work is uploaded. But it's been quiet lately. For some reason the forums have been locked and I haven't found anyone to explain why.

Don't try to narrow yourself down to one style! A book I'm reading explains that will stifle your creativity. I thought that way for a while too and in trying to pick a style I ended up doing nothing for long periods of time and regretting it. You are who you are and you shouldn't try to change that. Do what you feel and don't worry if someone says none of your work is similar (none of mine is either). The ability to paint in a variety of styles/mediums makes you unique. Now I get compliments on the variety of styles I can do. Just paint!

I'll definitely let you know.  My pieces are different.  There was not a place (that I saw) to explain about them other than in the blogs.  The painting "Suspect" is ten years older than the othe two.  The painting Bool was my re-interduction to oil painting.  "Pulse"  is one of a few others I worked on shortly after "Bool".  One of my biggest critiques was that I worked in too many styles.  I'm trying to focus my ADD into one.  We'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the response.

Jon
