I understand about art dry spells. There was a year in my life where I maybe painted 3 times. I felt guilty about it for awhile and didn't understand why I wasn't inspired to paint more?? I decided it was Okay and I was being too hard on myself. In one of my dry spells a good friend of mine said to me as I worried that maybe I had run out of ideas/inspiration -- "Amy your art is ocean, even if you aren't producing paintings you are still in every moment seeing/feeling/appreciating with an artist's eye ..."

And so I say to you:

YOUR ART IS AN OCEAN and YOU ARE ALWAYS SEEING/FEELING/APPRECIATING WITH YOUR ARTIST EYE.

Be gentle with yourself. . .you'll find your stride  . . . .everything is unfolding in perfect timing . . . . .

Hi Ana!

I love your 'About Me' honesty...and what you share of what your siblings tell you -- ahhh -- siblings!

To answer your questions - I try to paint everyday. This is much easier to do since declaring myself a self employed artist. Before it was very tricky balancing painting with a full time job. Both the job and the painting ended up getting neglected -- and when I turned 30 a year ago -- I said to hell with it! And that began my full time adventures in making art. It has made all the difference...

It is hard to say how long each piece takes...it depends on the detail...and I am pretty crazy about detail....I would guess per 10 x 10 painting around 8 hours? Sometimes less -- sometimes longer.

Why do you ask?

By reading your profile sounds like you are at a crossroads in life...which is a cool place to be. Let me ask you -- what are your daydreams about?

I like that you take long walks and don't own a car and are taking time off to destress and simplify...sounds like you have it figured out : )

Thanks for your kind words....I like your painting of the faces.....Wow that's the most eclectic music list of ever seen...I'd be willing to bet that this is the first and last time I will ever see the words John Denver and Kraftwerk (autobon) on the same page any where in the world.

Hi Vaseline....I would be delighted to be your friend.  It's a life journey to find balance...life is life...it has it's ups and downs,  good times and bad....and believe me when I say being confused or bored is not a bad thing...in fact consider it good because it means you are growing....outrowing the present and moving to a new level....so congratulations.  The two images your have are terrific and are deliciously expressive....please get some more up.....it seems to me you have already found your path...you truly are extremely creative and talented.....so you go girl.....:-0) feather
