Call to Artists for Decay (Oct. Show)
DATE: 07/06/2008 00:50:42 / MOOD: full of life
Call to Artists......
'DECAY' October Show for the Sixth Street Gallery Exhibition Dates: October 1 – November 2, 2008
Sixth Street Gallery presents "Decay"-- an aesthetic interpretation of the various forms, stages, and manners of decay, and its effects in and upon the world around us. The passage of time brings the natural decay of our bodies and our faculties. Buildings are abandoned and left to crumble, changing the boundaries of our cities and nations. Moral and cultural decay eat away at individuals and societies from within. Life is change, and decay an inevitability, but decay can be just as much a force for rebirth as for ruin. For as the falling leaves of autumn decay upon the forest floor, they in turn serve as the basis for the re-emergence of life in the Spring, in the endless cycle of the seasons. All things decay and come to an end, but every end brings the possibility of new beginnings.
"I have always looked upon Decay as being just as wonderful and rich an expression of life as growth." - Henry Miller.
*Decay - to pass from a sound, prosperous, or perfect state, to one of imperfection, adversity, or dissolution.
All two and three dimensional media are welcome, as well as time- based art.
