It was at L.A. City College where I took art classes that gave me the skills and the direction I needed to define my style. I have exhibited at the San Bernardino, Riverside,Ontario Museum of Art and History and more frequently at the Latino Art Museum in Pomona, California.
My paintings are intended to tell a story of the people I grew up with in El Salvador. Some of them were friends, some were relatives, and others were just people I would just see frequently in the streets. People were not tuned-in with technology that much in that part of the world, nor spent their free time watching television. In those days life was much simpler. It seemed that everybody had more time to relax, get together, or celebrate something. Our family used to walk at least five miles to visit relatives, which gave us the opportunity to appreciate the time with each. These memories inspire me to paint.
