Congratulations on your sale! That's terrific that you were able to settle on a price that was acceptable to both you and the buyer. I know what you mean about having a goal to sell work! Right now no one seems to be buying art these days.
Thanks, Laura! I've had a look at you collages and assemblages, they're wonderful! I enjoy work that is so different from my own. I have some collage artists as students - they would learn much from you.
Hey Laura I just went to your website I love your work....Tell me how do you do painted image transfers... I've been doing all these bird paintings some of them remind me slightly of yours only I don't use any images except those that I paint but I have all these images I want to transfer on to my canvas and don't know how....
I had so much fun, and so inspired by your site!
I am not a series painter.. I don't really know why this is.. I always say it's because I get bored with a subject and I keep movin on to the next thing that inspires me.... So I guess that's it... It's really hard for me to do commission work because usally the request is based on a previous painting that someone wants me to do again and I just can't do the same thing again.....and of course a lot of my stuff is abstract which makes it harder....
It seems that a lot of my work happens in the flow....so when the flow ends on that piece there just ain't no getting it back again on that...must flow on....
thanks for visiting my page and the friend request!
I'll be teaching a 2 day Compositional Collage Summer Workshop at LaGrange Art League, LaGrange IL. Friday June 20th and Saturday June 21st, from 9:30-4:00 each day if interested and in the area see website for more details. www.lagrangeartleague.org.
The first day will be about the paper, what do with the paper to prepare it for collage. Lots of good old fashion fun of experimenting with different tecniques and learning about image transfers. Second day we will work up to the main application of the use of a heat seal iron which is a wonderful way to apply the collage paper to uptain a smooth even surface and really get the papers to glue down.
i teach middle school art in va. i would also like to start running some workshops for artists and for those who think they are "creativily" challenged....i will be doing a couple of workshops at our state art teacher convention in the fall.
i love working on murals...i have one in my house that is a nascar race track for my husband's basement. he loves it.
i will be completeing a 5 panel painting this summer also ,,,it is currently about half way finished. ( teaching full time and taking classes got in the way, as well as i had an injured shoulder for 4 months.) doing much better now and school is out in about 5 weeks.
thanks for stopping by ...i reall y like how you use space in the collages.
