I thought it appropriate to talk about some of the influences of my work. I certainly owe alot of my thoughts and my understanding to a variety of sources. As far as art influences go I would say that painters like Winslow Homer, Andrew Wyeth, and Edward Hopper come to mind. More contemporary artists would include Andy Goldsworthy(not a painter, but incredible stuff), Terry Winters, and Gail Roberts. All unique influences, most of them have some sort of natural or organic theme to their work.
An influence that I didn't really expect to have but is rather intriguing is 12th & 13th century medieval maps. They have alot to do with how time and space are comprehended and are really ratehr spiritual pieces. That's something I hope comes through in my own work; a sense of subtle spirituality that allows the viewer to connect on another level.
