Painting with Texture?
DATE: 02/17/2008 17:41:35 / MOOD: full of life

I have a question for you fellow painters.  How do you create your texture?  I like the look of textured canvas.  I don't like making the brushstrokes with heavy paint.  It takes FOREVER to dry.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

At the Key
DATE: 01/06/2008 17:43:06 / MOOD: full of life

I am happily settled in for a month of painting at the beach.  Today I worked on a small still life of three pears that my husband bought.  It was such a beautiful day that I couldn't resist being at the beach and out on the island most of the day.  Normally I take my paints and paint almost every day, but today was different.

I worked with acrylics on board, something I am not as used to painting, but I wanted to try something faster than oils for this little study.  I found the colors had to be toned down and the quick dry times kept me from smoothing and blending as much.  I am sure I will get used to it, but there is just something about oil paints that keeps my interest more.

Will update with photos of new works periodically.  If you have suggestions on using acrylics, give me a comment.

Aloha!
