I have found that everyone realy likes to see where all the creative stuff takes place. I currently have my studio in my basement. The lighting is poor but I have lots of space.
Today this is where I paint in this studio or if the weather is friendly I might find a spot out side for a plien air painting which I am doing more of lately. As artist we work where ever we find the space to paint and the inspiration for our art.I draw on airplanes and in hotel rooms, I carry a pad of sketch pad and a pencil in my purse.I have found that even the worse thumb nail of an idea is better than thinking I will recall it later.
I have a large area to paint in with several tables. One for cutting matts, one that is set up for watercolors when I do them which isn't often and I also keep a computer on a table for pictures I take and use in my paintings. I am an oil painter. This computer is just used for painting. I have another in my office for my art business.

My office is in a different area and my other two computers are there, along with my files and the phone, fax, and copier. I think many people think artist just paint, they forget about the business side of our work and all the record keeping we do.
This area where I paint also has a 15x20 feet area where I have shelve where I store paintings, matts, frames, and canvas. I will be building a new studio soon where the light will be better and I will have better storage space. To be in galleries and art shows takes a lot of inventory which has to be stored.
The nice thing about this is most of the paintings are very small quick works and take up almost no space to store, so I have a lot of fun trying out new things and seeing how many people take a look.
The digging has started but it will spring before it is done.
This is the beginings of a new studio for me. So anyone with ideas on what they wish they had in their studio but forgot would be great. I love the help
