Your work is beautiful, I love the way you portray light.

Hi Jane, thanks for viewing my page and leaving a comment on my "Lady in Red" painting. It was actually painted in oil, lol i have never painted a portrait before so i wasn't confident enough in painting the entire face like most portraits, so i just painted the shadows. The hat seemed easy enough so i painted that whole thing. But i ended up liking the light and dark effect any way. But one of these days i am going to try to paint a portrait of someone where i will paint the entire face, at least to see if i can do it.

Jane - the largest frames on the cheap joe's website arent big enough for my standard size paintings! the light wood frame was good, its just not big enough but thanks for sharing the info.

You know, I just went in to pick up a large painting from the photographer, and lo and behold, they were using a nikon 35mm camera to make giclees...hmm, I guess for about the price of 10 or 12 photos there I could have my own set-up to make prints.  Turns out I could probably make easily make fairly good 22x30 giclee prints with a 10 megapixel.  Anyway your new image look as good as the others!

As far as that show goes, you should mark your calendar for a trip to Rutland Vt on Feb 13, 2009.  You might start walking now and save the air fair!

Thats the day scheduled for an opening at the chaffee art center, you might google them, or try to cut and paste the link, it doesn't seem lik links off site work on the Butt:

Give it a try!  Perhaps I will get to see your art up close sometime too.  It isn't really doing any of us justice, no matter how good the photos and tweeking.

Hi Jane - let me know if you decide to purchase some of those frames.. I usually paint large and dont like dark wood frames (and maybe there were some lighter colors). I quickly looked a them on the Cheap Joes website. I have a wonderful framer who just had a to close because of a fire in the building she leases but she hopes to reopen soon, in the mean time I am discovering how wonderful her prices were and how expensive it is everywhere else!

Watch out for the flash, it might work with a matt watercolor, but it will create a reflection if there are any glossy spots, and it seems to skew the contrasts and emphasize the whites and yellows.  I can't get pictures under glass with out seeing me in the mirror there, but some day I might afford a polarizing filter which can eliminate the reflections.

I painted four images, a pastel and experimented with the "magic eye" phenomena; I have only posted 3 so far.  And those crazy videos from the VSC are from a late night in my studio.  Truly we had had very little to drink, I think we were giddy on so much painting, it being probably 2:00 am, and the rush of friendship bonding so rare in the day to day.

hi ho!

PS, the Magic Eye is easy to google
