DATE: 04/21/2008 19:03:10 / MOOD: happy
Hi everyone, I've seen several people leaving posts in the chat about no one being there at the same time and that maybe we should set a time, so I propose ...7am..3pm..7pm..and 9pm. Or just check in every hour ON the hour. Let's try and catch up with one another.

Critique group is up
DATE: 02/15/2008 10:41:38 / MOOD: happy
Hi everyone, I'd like to remind you that the critique group is up and running in the groups area of the site for those of us who would like some more in depth insight about thier work. However, it's not neccessary to submit a piece for critique in order to join. If you just want to comment and offer your expertise, that would be very much welcomed. The group was formed so as to have a place disignated for this purpose, and not on our pages where we send people to view them like friends, family and potential clients. Hope to see you there!

Inspiration is everywhere
DATE: 12/02/2007 21:37:25 / MOOD: full of life
The studio is where I do my painting. One day I hope to get out and do some plein air work, but as of yet I haven't made the venture. There is a great deal of subject matter that draws me. I do have tons of photo's to use as reference material, so I'm never at a loss in that respect. What I can't use of the whole photo, I'll crop and can alway's find somthing to keep me occupied in there somwhere. But whatever the subject, it must be sprinkled with light to hold my interest. There are times when the compositions come from out of my head. I will start out organizing a composition right on the canvas, and by the time it's finished it will have been through about three or four changes before I settle on the final one. One such piece is "The Shed", a painting that had morphed it's way to the finish. What keeps me focused throughout a painting is the love of the challenge. The proggression of a piece is very exhilerating for me, as I'm sure it is to just about every other artist. I feel very fortunate that God has put this desire in my heart.
