I am a self taught Mosaicist with a studio in my home. I started my "journey" into mosaics in 2002. In 2004, I travelled to Italy to observe and visit with Mosaic Masters at the Vatican, in Ravenna and, in Venice. I 've also had the opportunity to work under the direction of Mosaic Master, Enzo Aiello from Rome.
I like to work on mixed media 3D mosaics, and have been selected for show in the International Mosaic Exhibition at The Atelier in Miami, locally at the 31st Sequim Art Exhibition and the EAFA's 32nd Exhibit at Redmond City Hall. I have been featured in the SAMA (Society of American Mosaic Artists) magazine, the Woodinville Weekly and, was invited to participate in the PONCHO Art Gala Fundraising Auction. In December of 2007, my work was included in "Mosaic Art 2007" - a collective CD portfolio of mosaic artists from around the world and in April 2008, I was invited to participating in the 1st Artist Open Studio Tour during Woodinville's Wine Passport Weekend.
I was most recently honored to be asked by Art Calendar to have my work included in their 2008/2009 media presentation kit.
My mosaics are unique and my methods are unusual in that I create my pattern, or picture, as I cut the tesserae, building upon the aesthetic personality of an object. Working directly in this way, allows me to shape and angle each piece to capture the spirit and flow of the item I'm working on. |
