I work full time as an art teacher/counselor in a middle school. Its hard to juggle both the art and the work at times. But I also enjoy teaching and working with youth. They give me energy (most days) and it is a great way to give back.

After many years of struggling to find a consistent vision for my art I believe that I have finally found that direction. I have tried many different media. I have done portraits in oil, flowers in watercolors, still life in charcoal and have finally settled on abstracted images in soft pastel. I never thought that I would end up an abstract artist but that is what has happened. I just can't bring myself to produce anything representational anymore. It holds no interest for me. I am much more driven by internal processes than ever before. It is interesting to me to see where all of this leads.

Thanks for your comment on my work. Yes it is a watercolor. I am familiar Patricia Tobacco Forester. I was impressed by her work when I was first getting excited about the possibilities of painting 'serious' paintings with watercolor. Your work is beautiful, I love the movement.

the large piece is not on a wall ...it is a mixed media acrylic about 7' x 4'.

it's not commission and i am not sure what to do with it yet.... will keep it for now in studio and use with my thesis show in about a year.

Your work is beautiful. It reminds me of when I work in a Rudolf Steiner school for a short time and the kids did watercolour on wet paper. Very ethereal.

I'm still a representational artist, but I LOVE your use of color. I find the most appealing abstract art is thaat which expresses the heart, which I think yours does.
