I was trained in the Old Master Tradition, as an apprentice, in a German Atelier. Hard Work, but SO worth it! I love oil paints and all they encompass. Glazing is a particular joy, and leaving the studio each day is very difficult! I am passionate about portraits, and love the conversation between the subject and myself each time I paint. Portraying the life and soul in each portrait is what keeps me returning to the (very messy) easel! LOVE IT!

My husband, Ken. Creative, interesting people/coversations. Music. Old Master Art and Artists. Humor! Art books - by the boat load!
My next painting is now in motion! Yes!

Mediocrity. Downer people. Disloyaly. Lack of enthusiasm. Anger.

Most art-related activities!

Hmmm, paint faster...I'll have to think about that.

The Haast river is in New Zealand and the scene was captured during a bike trip around the south island.  New Zealand is an absolutly beautiful country - wish I could go back just to paint!

I love your dogs - in fact, I love all your stuff!  Wish I could go and train in the 'old master's tradition' but I read and study and practice, practice, practice.  Still there's nothing like being taught by a good teacher to push you to the next level.

Dear Sarah,

Thanks for your perceptive comments about my work. They are much appreciated.  I checked out your portraits and they are beautiful! You must have some very happy clients.  And the dogs are wonderful! You must be knowledgeable about dog anatomy to get the different breeds so well.

Best Wishes to you,

Ellen

Thanks for your comment, it was so sweet. And I really love your portrait "the major". It's one of the first ones I noticed.
