I have taught art in a Middle School for 15 years. I have always had a dream of being able to support my family as a full-time atist and am working towards that goal. Thanks for visiting my page, Brian. Yes - the Cosby portrait IS an acrylic. I like them because they are so versatile and less expensive than oils, although oils are just the staple medium in art and always a good choice.- Jared

The painting "Snow on Christmas Night" is accually an old painting. I used it as my Christmas card this past year and it was well received, so I just thought I would share it with everyone.  We were in Lappeenranta just a few days, it was pretty cold, but we did some shopping, walked out to the old fortress, and ate at Rax Pizza Buffet. and swam in an unheated pool at our hotel ! We had a good break from St. Pete. I hope we can go back some day.

Thanks for visiting my sight, I'm new at this and have a lot to learn. We were in Lappeenranta Finland, for about three days, last February 2007. It's a small town close to the boarder of Russia. You'll have to tell me about time in Finland. I always said that one of the best things about being in Russia is that we get to make short trips to Finland.

Thanks for your encouragement on the Reagor Springs piece. One of the great things about painting "en plein air" is the benefit of seeing more color than the camera records. Digitals grab more color then film cameras, but still the exposure is usually off somewhere (either highlights or shadows) You can see more color when you are out there...and it is really relaxing.

I did on this piece (as I do from time to time) add a final touch when I get back to the "studio". On this one I darkened the tree on the right side. It just didn't look correct when I left the scene.

I noticed you added another piece - "The Great Mediator" That is an awesome work! Excellent job. What medium is it? It is very well done.
