My favorite music is the Gregorian Chants. I enjoy any Baroque music such as Bach and Vivaldi.

I was born in Tucson, Arizona, and I have lived in Mexico City, Mexico, Phoenix, Chicago, Boston, and I am now currently residing in PA.

I have my BFA in Fine Arts, I have exhibited extensively in group and solo exhibitions, painted three public project murals, and I was published in a Latin American artbook. For an in depth view of my Bio, Statement and Resume, you are welcome to visit my web site at:

My current goal as an artist is to promote my art, and to seek gallery representation.

Painting has been the love of my life. What motivates me to create is that I don't know what the subject matter will be. I find this process very invigorating. I believe that I am simply a paint brush that is being guided by the Holy Spirit. Of course technique, a sense of color, etc. is involved, but the actual images painted are inspired by the Holy Spirit. At times a comical or whimsical subject matter will be portrayed, but when I see that a Holy painting is to be completed, it puts a heavy burden on me to do my best to rise to the occasion. These paintings, as a result, are very special. I call them Sacred Art.

Also please feel free to visit my blog at:

I have a passion for making jewelry and crafts in general. I love in particular primitive jewelry.

Hi Veronica,  thanks for your comment on my painting.  I love what you said in your profile about being a "willing paintbrush".  what a wonderful image to express our dependence on, and collaboration with God in our art.   Carmela

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your kind welcome!. I know what you mean about  being homesick, no matter how much time passes (I've been here six years), I always get a little homesick, and sometimes it shows in my work, which I like , because my origins are a very big part of who I am . I'm glad you liked my work, I love yours.

You commented at my site about Ivan Albright! I first saw his work on a field trip with a college art class (Goshen College) when we went to the Art Institute in Chicago. I was amazed, to say the least, and I eventually purchased a very large book detailing all of his work. His work is not uplifting, I must say, but it is certainly inspiring. Thanks for the comments!

Veronica, I find it interesting the another artist's work that is so very different from my own can be so appealing. I love your work and can feel your passion for it.

Bach is one of my favorites too. I like his cantatas. I like the playful rhythm of your work.

Thanks for your comments on my piece "Ruins." I was completely flabbergasted the first time I saw Ivan Albright's work in Chicago and eventually bought a huge book with all of his paintings.
