I have worked as a free-lance illustrator and graphic designer, and since 2001, I have been working in my home office creating web-sites, print ads, 3D illustration & animation; pretty much anything that involves images and pixels.

I have also been pursuing painting in down time. I love to go out on location and paint.(plein air) Often, I find it to be very relaxing and quite times of worship. Other times it is a mad race against the sun as it moves across the sky, constantly changing the light and shadows. I also do some studio work from photo reference. Also, just visited your site!! It's simply beautiful, has the same feeling of peace and kindness your paintings convey. No tension, no darkness, just an incredible feeling of joy. I've bookmarked it and will visit often. Thanks for your kind words re: my site, but it's pretty primitive. I want to redo and update it, I haven't added anything since '06! I want to combine the pet site with daily paintings and some gallery pieces ultimately. It's been so nice chatting, I know we've spoken briefly before, but looking at your work today gave me the inspiration i needed, so thank you very much. enjoy your day. best, suzanne

Wow, I just love seeing your work, it just makes me feel good. thank you for all of your kind comments as well. i've been doing portraits of one sort or another for a while now, just love the human form. i started doing the pet thing almost 5 years ago now, since i got downsized from my very comfortable, cushy graphic design job. miss the steady paycheck but the opportunity to actually do this for real is a dream come true, even will all the doubts, fears and insecurity. how long have you been painting? did you draw throughout your childhood? when did you discover you had the skills?

Thanks for your recent comments on my page, smiller. I recently was able to purchase a ton of new paint from a local arts and crafts store that is going out of business. I experimented with some new colors in my latest painting that I otherwise would have never thought of buying at regular price. It's now Christmas morning every morning with my new paint selection!!! - Jared Kelley

Love your work.. Absolutely terrific... Former actor here.. I did a play about C.S. Lewis some years back called "Shadowlands" having seen it on stage some years before in London with the great, and sadly late, (Sir) Nigel Hawthorne.  Loved the old Plymouth picture.  Took a photo recently of an old Dodge that I found abandoned in the middle of the Everglades. I wish I was a painter rather than a photographer because i would have a go at painting it.  But enough.. I just wanted to say that some of your images remind me of ASpomerset in England where I was brought up and remind me of a happy summer spent working in southern Kentucky in a theater there.

Thank you so much for the comment. I have a " Barrel Racer" almost finished, I will post it when it's finished and be anxious to see what you think of it. I love you boots. I keep telling you, when I grow up I want to paint like you.

Best, Alston
