I'm a self taught artist with a full time job in an Equine Veterinary Clinic. My last of 3 children left home last year- and I finally feel like it's my time to seriously pursue the development and sale of my art, and stop giving it away. I'm a marketing moron. Joining Scuttlebutt has been such a huge resource of inspiring creative people- many of whom are eager to share their ideas, techniques, and advice- all of which I wholeheartedly seek out and absorb like a sponge. I love having people respond to my posted pieces, and my hand is on fire for wanting to get the next idea on paper. As some of you have figured out- I'm nuts about trees. I'm intrigued with finding human features in branches, bark, and old stumps. I'm crazy about detail. The finest tip black ink pens were my friends for 20 years- and I'm trying to learn how to use color. I love seeing works that explode and are bold with it, that flow, and have light. Always I think "How did you do that!" A Scuttlebutt member suggested I buy the biggest filbert I could get and try painting something big. That hasn't happened yet, but there are more colors appearing all the time. I welcome any and all comments and advice- and I say thank you to everyone who has encouraged me to grow as an artist. You inspire me more than you know.

Trees! Bare feet and worn out jeans, my family, creative people, art supply catalogs, beaches, big skies, hiking, homemade bread, snowstorms, the sun, the moon, any mountain, anywhere. LIFE.

smoking, negative people, wasps, abuse of the environment, burnt toast

art, making art, looking at art, hiking, gardening, working out, travelling, everything outdoors

I am cracking up! I am not offended and am HAPPY you were honest with me.. and as far as the nudes are concerned, I have also been corresponding with 'the artist' (not formally known as prince) and it is actually unbelievably refreshing to finally have an exchange of ideas that are not just surface deep.

I am glad you responded to my blog, but am surprised you mentioned my geisha paintings, the only women I have painted and posted on this website! I do not paint anything but landscapes, still life on occasion, and geishas.. and not because I support what the geishas represented to society but for me, the geisha represents something very personal to my own life. I guess I should stick to only painting landscapes! I am happy to receive criticism when it can help me be a better painter, just like you..  but other than the geisha bathing in moonlight with very small anatomically incorrect feet size I am happy with her, as well as with the Geisha sitting.. maybe you can tell me which painting bothered you so I can learn more?

Thanks so much for the comments.  I have a horrible time coming up with titles - except for Pole Dancer, that was just obvious - but the last one I basically opened a book and took the first line I saw.

I appreciate the comments on the painting of the Indian girl.  She is a 10 year old of the local Tonkawa tribe.  She is now 16 and I would love to paint her at this age.   me

My work  mostly is digitally enhensed photos but occasionally done from "scratch". I use various types of art and photo software and do the "no-no"- "jump files". I use the tools that work for me best from each program to achieve the final result. Takes a awhil;e to get on to-but worth it!

Thanks for your comments this morning, although I wanted to let you know the painting you commented on "Maine Coast" was not the one I was struggling with, I just posted "Purple Loosestrife" aka painting from hell, but I think its done now!

Thats the first time ever looking at a close up of a horse eye, so cool, I get nerverous when I see a horse, my friend's ear got bitten off by one recently when she was feeding it.

P.S. Cool art btw..
