Thanks for the comment.   I enjoyed your gallery and love your work.  i am kind of in the same boat as you are right now as far as marketing, but have been doing a lot of research.  i have found a site called Wet Canvas.com which has a lot of information in the forums.  I've been having a lot of fun with their weekly all media drawing events as well.

Thanks for the recent visit & compliments! 

An ACEO is a work of art that measures 2.5" x 3.5". (It must be that exact size, or else it does not qualify as an ACEO.)  ACEOs were designed
to be traded. (ACEO stands for "Art Cards, Editions and Originals".)  I believe that not only are they quite popular on eBay, but I think they originated there also. 

 

I usually enjoy painting much larger!  But, I thought I'd give ACEOs a try. - They're actually pretty fun!

Hi there!  It takes about 4 days of piecing and grouting for a 30" x 30" piece, if I have a good pattern.  Sometimes I just go freelance and that takes a bit longer, just because I'm experimenting as I go.  It's very time consuming but fun!  We do all kinds of work, from large public art murals to small production mirrors.  I'm currently working on my first sculptures and am working on three at a time (not smart but it seems to be the way we work!)

Thanks for the comment about the mosaics!   They are all made of glass bits, and some ceramic every once in awhile.  I normally do a painting either in oil or acylic and we use that as a pattern for the glass piecing.  There are anywhere from 1,200 to 1,600 individually cut pieces in a square foot of the fine art pieces.  My husband and I work together and it's some good quality time with lots of music and conversation.  It's very fun.  Your work is wonderful, I love the forest and the awesome life in you paintings.

Hi..."Spirit Tree" ....funny you should ask..it is pretty interesting.....I had seen this sort of thing when I was visiting South Carolina...I took a picture...you can see what I painted...I imagined teen agers drinking and goofing around and just putting these bottles on the branches.....I wasn't going to call it "Alcohol Tree" so I named it  "Spirit Tree"  It was juried into The Annual Newport Art Museum Exhibit...then I received in the mail a five page artical with pictures that there is in fact  "Spirit Trees" with roots dating back to Africa...where natives would put colored bottles on branches or posts believing the jewel colored bottles would attract evil spirits and once entered would be trapped and villagers would be protected..evidently this is not uncommon in the South  where slaves were dominent.  Historically it is interesting also that John Brown who created Brown University in Providence RI where he lived was the biggest slave trader in the country....and his brother Moses Brown was a Quaker created a Prep School in Providence which Is Moses Brown School.  Thanks for asking and noticing and this is probably more information than you wanted... :-0) feather  (Meredith)

I have to tell you something.. that tree growing on the tip of the mountain in the painting you commented about.. well, that painting was from a photo taken in China somewhere in the Yellow Mountains and if you ever saw the way the trees grew there you would be totally in awe like me! You may enjoy doing a google search, Huangshan Mountains, China.. I am telling you, its amazing stuff!

Hi Selli,  I think you would be perfect as a story book illustrator.  You mentioned being weak on sales. I will give you a little secret...A good product always sells itself.  Anyone who is trying hard to sell you something is making up for the weak points in the product.

YOU HAVE A GOOD PRODUCT...it is perfect for book illustrations. You do not have to sell anything, just present it and let your work do the talking.

 Make a connection with a writer and get busy!

Hi Seliot,  Thank you for your interest in my photographs.  To your question, The photos are manipulated with chemistry.  It is a very random process in which the outcome can be totally different from one image to the next.  I always wanted to be a painter and this technique enables me to still use a paintbrush.  Keep up the good work, I really enjoyed your tree images (Long Uphill).....Cheers, Robb

Hi Selliot,

Thanks for your comments about my work. I love your detailed work. So we are even...I can't image doing little details like what you do and you can't imagine doing giant work like I do.  We all have our own paths, don't we? Love the tree! It has a real personality. Reminds me of the trees in Lord Of The Rings. I think they were the Ents. Old, wise and sassy.  Your perspective is great on it. Thanks for sharing it.
