I am a self taught artist with a full time job in an Equine Veterinary Clinic. I've never had an art class, and the best part of this site is seeing and inquiring about techniues and effects that are new to me, and being inspired by the huge variety of art here, from the professionals, to the people like me. In case you haven't figured it out- I'm nuts about trees. I'm intrigued with finding human features in branches, bark, and old stumps. I'm crazy about detail. I can't drive or walk anywhere without noticing trees that I want to photograph and draw, so I don't think I found my niche, I think it found me.

Trees! Bare feet and worn out jeans, my family, creative people, art supply catalogs, beaches, big skies, hiking, homemade bread, snowstorms, the sun, the moon, any mountain, anywhere. LIFE.

smoking, negative people, wasps, abuse of the environment, burnt toast

art, making art, looking at art, hiking, gardening, working out, travelling, everything outdoors

oops I forgot the name of the bird I will have to look it up. Man, the
bark was hard it added two days to do just that. The bird was just a
day. It is fun when I walk to school with my kids I see people in the
trees now since I have seen your trees. ;^)

Thank you for checking my new piece, every comment is very important to me. The size is less odd if you think it in meters and centimeters (my units) when you pass it to inches and feet is  strange. But the size, anyway is not common, I did it specially for my room, the couch is my bed. When I go to the beach and I am resting under a "palapa" I always look at this views of  palms and changing color skies so I decided to do it and it has glows everywhere it depends where you stand up, the angle of view and the time of the day. That was the thing I mostly like of it it changes like a real sky because the silver paint I put at last is very transparent and iridiscent so it lets the other glazes come out. Thank you for the comment. Did you posted new trees????

The piece I call Ice Age is done with a teal color wax and black. What amazes me about this art form is the fact that the wax doesnt make "mud" like other mediums. I have never gotten "ugly" colors from mixing. Some look a little strange but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and invariably there is someone who just loves the strangeness of color.

Two Moons is done with wax. I used a warm iron and gold metallic wax to get the effect.

Hi!

Yes, I love to layer washes in...the way color becomes illuminated after a swipe of an iridescent....magic.

I like how you say: "my hand is on fire for wanting to get the next idea on paper when I get home from work"

That is a great way to feel, indeed!
