I am a self taught artist with a full time job in an Equine Veterinary Clinic. I've never had an art class, and the best part of this site is seeing and inquiring about techniues and effects that are new to me, and being inspired by the huge variety of art here, from the professionals, to the people like me. In case you haven't figured it out- I'm nuts about trees. I'm intrigued with finding human features in branches, bark, and old stumps. I'm crazy about detail. I can't drive or walk anywhere without noticing trees that I want to photograph and draw, so I don't think I found my niche, I think it found me.

Trees! Bare feet and worn out jeans, my family, creative people, art supply catalogs, beaches, big skies, hiking, homemade bread, snowstorms, the sun, the moon, any mountain, anywhere. LIFE.

smoking, negative people, wasps, abuse of the environment, burnt toast

art, making art, looking at art, hiking, gardening, working out, travelling, everything outdoors

I appreciate the comments on the painting of the Indian girl.  She is a 10 year old of the local Tonkawa tribe.  She is now 16 and I would love to paint her at this age.   me

My work  mostly is digitally enhensed photos but occasionally done from "scratch". I use various types of art and photo software and do the "no-no"- "jump files". I use the tools that work for me best from each program to achieve the final result. Takes a awhil;e to get on to-but worth it!

Thanks for your comments this morning, although I wanted to let you know the painting you commented on "Maine Coast" was not the one I was struggling with, I just posted "Purple Loosestrife" aka painting from hell, but I think its done now!

Thats the first time ever looking at a close up of a horse eye, so cool, I get nerverous when I see a horse, my friend's ear got bitten off by one recently when she was feeding it.

P.S. Cool art btw..

Thanks for your encouraging comments on "Dentistree" Didn't know how

many people would actually know that Quercus is the latin name for

oaks.  I have a whole series of these in my head- just need the time to

get them on paper.  I'm looking into giclee printing, and making tiny

steps toward getting my stuff out there.  Several people have mentioned

children's books, but I dont' know how to go about it.  Do you sell

your art?

Yes I do sell my art. Right now, I am
having giclee prints made of 2 paintings, Evening Flight and Delphinium
Blues. I will usually take a new painting into work, cause they all say
they like to see them, then depending on the "wow" factor, or at
request, I will have a very limited number of prints made, usually no
more than 25.

I have learned to keep my print costs down. Say I want 25 prints, but only

can
afford 12, I will number thise 12 as follows, 1/25, 2/25 etc to 12/25,
sell them, then later get the other 13, and number those 13/25, 14/25.
etc. Lets you split your runs. money wise.

Hey Selliot - I was confused also when I tried to post a bulletin the first time. If you click "my account" on the blue menu bar at the top, then click on the white "bulletin" tab in your account options, there should be a small box to the right on the screen that has 3 options, the last of which is "post bulletin". This is what you want. Let me know if it works out for you. -JK
