I'm a self taught artist with a full time job in an Equine Veterinary Clinic. My last of 3 children left home last year- and I finally feel like it's my time to seriously pursue the development and sale of my art, and stop giving it away. I'm a marketing moron. Joining Scuttlebutt has been such a huge resource of inspiring creative people- many of whom are eager to share their ideas, techniques, and advice- all of which I wholeheartedly seek out and absorb like a sponge. I love having people respond to my posted pieces, and my hand is on fire for wanting to get the next idea on paper. As some of you have figured out- I'm nuts about trees. I'm intrigued with finding human features in branches, bark, and old stumps. I'm crazy about detail. The finest tip black ink pens were my friends for 20 years- and I'm trying to learn how to use color. I love seeing works that explode and are bold with it, that flow, and have light. Always I think "How did you do that!" A Scuttlebutt member suggested I buy the biggest filbert I could get and try painting something big. That hasn't happened yet, but there are more colors appearing all the time. I welcome any and all comments and advice- and I say thank you to everyone who has encouraged me to grow as an artist. You inspire me more than you know.

Trees! Bare feet and worn out jeans, my family, creative people, art supply catalogs, beaches, big skies, hiking, homemade bread, snowstorms, the sun, the moon, any mountain, anywhere. LIFE.

I am kind of in the research stage of doing REAL prints myself. I have always made prints(laser copies)  from kinkos on nice card stock paper. I fool with the color adjustments until I get it the way I want, I make about 10 of each one, sign them in pencil on the white border and sell at local art fairs. I sell them for between 20 and 50 bucks apiece (what ever I can achieve at the moment). I mat some and sell others w/out mats....I put them in professional looking clear wrap bags (clearbags.com). I let my customers know that they are merely reproductions of my original paintings. But the RIGHT way to do it is to have them printed either by a print shop or invest in a printer (epson im told is best) that prints with "archival" quality inks and use acid free paper and...do it yourself at home.(I think that's what most artists are doing that sell at fairs). This way you can tell your potential customers that they are high quality and archival. If your drawings are small enough, put them on a scanner bed and scan and print. Or, if larger, photograph and print from computer printer. I think this is what a print shop would do anyway. Keep in touch Im curious to see which route you will choose....I really dont have the money right now to make BETTER prints. Good Luck

I just use a pretty basic point and shoot, Konica Minolta. Nothing fancy...yet. I'm in love with the macro function, I'm always crawling around on the ground looking for new things to photograph.

too funny.. you saw me post my spring tree then I took it off the gallery because it didnt feel done to me (the painting was a quick demo from class) but now I am about to post the final version of my spring tree plus I decided to post a painting I did of my bonsai.

Im going to have to go back through all of your pictures to find the faces in each one. Go ahead and draw away, Im very excited to see your interpretation of the photo. Will there be a face worked into it?

Do you put a face in all of your tree pictures? I feel like i can see a face in at least a few of them. If you do a drawing of the leaf picture, you should post it on here so i can enjoy it. Have an awesome day.

oops I forgot the name of the bird I will have to look it up. Man, the
bark was hard it added two days to do just that. The bird was just a
day. It is fun when I walk to school with my kids I see people in the
trees now since I have seen your trees. ;^)

Thank you for checking my new piece, every comment is very important to me. The size is less odd if you think it in meters and centimeters (my units) when you pass it to inches and feet is  strange. But the size, anyway is not common, I did it specially for my room, the couch is my bed. When I go to the beach and I am resting under a "palapa" I always look at this views of  palms and changing color skies so I decided to do it and it has glows everywhere it depends where you stand up, the angle of view and the time of the day. That was the thing I mostly like of it it changes like a real sky because the silver paint I put at last is very transparent and iridiscent so it lets the other glazes come out. Thank you for the comment. Did you posted new trees????

The piece I call Ice Age is done with a teal color wax and black. What amazes me about this art form is the fact that the wax doesnt make "mud" like other mediums. I have never gotten "ugly" colors from mixing. Some look a little strange but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and invariably there is someone who just loves the strangeness of color.
