I am a ceramic and glass artist. My main focus is on custom tile work but I also make stained glass and sand carved glass. Most of my work is commissioned for residential and commercial installation. I work in an church that I bought about 3 years ago. It was built in 1900 and still has many of it's original architectural details like 14' tin ceilings and arts & crafts stained glass windows. It' very cool. I can't help but be inspired! My work area is in the basement and I am currently renovating the sanctuary to be used as a gallery space. Please visit my website to see my work.

Hi Sara, Thanks for the comment.  I really like your work too.  I once considered ceramics, but now am deep in bronze and painting.  I know you need to focus, but so many genres are so tempting.  The old church sounds so interesting.  I would love to find an old interesting building to renovate.  Are you located in a urban area, country, or suburban.  Do you get much foot traffic? When you have time it would be nice to see some pictures of it.  Maybe you could get art Calendar to do a feature of it in the studio section.  Anyway,  looking forward to more communication when you have time.  I know this computer takes away valuable time in the studio.  Take care, Wanda

Hi Sara,

I love your work, and you have a great website!

It must be fantastic to work in an old church building.  I almost bought a church about ten years ago, but my plan was to turn it into a restaurant, so it's probably a good thing that I didn't follow through!

I also considered, not long ago, buying a historic tile-making business in the San Jose area.  They had been in business for over 75 years, but rising costs made it tough for them to compete with the mass-produced imports.  I have a lot of respect for anyone who can make a go of the "art tie" business.

Love the fountain! And Maize! Maize seems like it would be perfect as chocolate, it looks like it would taste really good.

Hi, well, you're right....I really am a mixed media artist but I didn't see that choice!  Right now I'm doing daily paintings, and so am game to use just about anything.....am pulling out all my hoarded fabrics, hand marbled papers, butterfly wings, torn up old paintings.

What is behind the name "dark horse" btw?!

Cheers,

Susan
