Hi, Gary, Thank you for looking at my work. The backgrounds are part of the painting. The works are a discussion of sorts about opposites - open vs. closed (boxed). . . A narrative of my life at the moment. I hope to create some question and perhaps a little intrique. And yes, I am in Glendale, AZ - not too far from Tucson. You could check out my blog when you have time - different paintings - www.CyndyCarstens.blogspot.com   Hope to hear from you again soon. And thanks again.

Just wanted to acknowledge your photopolymer print in the new Art Calendar magazine. Looks pretty fine. Congrats.   -Brent

I took a few moments last evening to take a peek at your book. Unbelievable! I felt as if every piece could breathe and I could feel its breath. I have to go back when I have a few "hours" to focus. Thank you for creating such beautiful work.

Hey Gary in Arizona, you're up early...you should see that painting up close...photos just do not show the detail!  the white flowers have a crackled porcelan finish ....it's pretty cool.  hehe

thank you for your kind word. Looking at your accomplishments, your compliments are extremely meaningful to me. You seem to be a well rounded individual based on your previous occupations. I wish you the best!

Everyone's first comment, I am sure, is "nice work". But you have a subtlety about your choices and an essence of "beyond" the subject.

back again...thanks for your comment. she reminds me of helena bonham carter too. i find her inspiring, but i was not thinking of her when i made it. i layered two different illustrations on top of each other, and painted the mouth and hair in photoshop and added other photographic elements. hbc is a beauty muse for me, and there's one thing i have discovered through my work....i have very specific ideas about beauty!

cheers,

HI Gary:  I saw your news reel about your photography work.  That was really interesting and well done. Congratulations! It was an inspiration.  Take care, Barbara

Hi Gary - whats funny is that the painting you commented on today, Geisha Sitting, was in my gallery about a month ago and you complimented me on it then, although I reworked my gallery page and took it off until this morning, and I guess you still like it!

Its fun to revisit your gallery to see your new wonderful additions.

Robin
