I have lived in Alaska for 39 years and began watercolor painting Nov 2005. I am a self-taught artist, and have attended a few workshops by nationally recognized artists. I have met some wonderful people since I began watercolor painting. Every painting I learn something, either good OR bad.

First Friday shows, fireplaces, big fluffy snowflakes, art supply catalogs, the northern lights, getting art advice, weekend paint-outs, selling a painting...oh and CHOCOLATE !!!

Not enough time in the day to paint !!, sour milk, the last of the coffee used the day before !!, 40 below and colder !

reading, playing my guitar, watching movies, painting, gardening.

Thanks for your encouraging comments on my site! That's all I need stay motivated is for someone to appreciate what I'm trying to do.  I don't have prints (yet) - so I can't commit to a trade till I figure out exactly how I'm going to do that.  I'm trying to information gather on the best ways to do it- whether I should do limited editions, and what process to pursue. I'm pretty green in that area and would appreciate any advice if you're printing your watercolors.

THANK YOU for responding to my blog. What I'm trying to do now is finish a body of "tree" work- at least 15- hopefully more.  Online sites are safe to me because I'm very articulate in writing- but I worry about piracy.  I need to get Adobe Photoshop so I can watermark my online work.  I will print your advice and refer to it- thanks again.  I actually like black mats on a lot of my work because of the ink work. Is that a no no? Actually, cream would work.

Mobius49...your work is great....  ;-)   Hoping you will grace us with a photo of yourself or one representative of yourself.  Your work is delicate and with class.  Thank you....Gary

Very nice light, and a very peaceful setting. Welcome to Scuttlebutt. I look forward to seeing more.
