Recovering medical illustrator, I got tired of working for lawyers. My family needs health insurance, so 10 hours of my day is occupied as a dedicated beurocrat (an occupation we all aspired to as kids, right?). At night in my bat cave, I work on refining my techniques in egg tempera and waterless lithography. (Waterless lithography is a non-toxic method of producing lithographs from stuff one finds at a True Value hardware store. No stones required. My lumbar vertabre just vibrate with happiness.) I'll pull out a block of wood or metal plate and just dig in on occasion as well.

Color, humor, New England, Japanese food, Japanese arts, egg tempera, a great book, Anole lizards, Lake Champlain, making people laugh, spare time and the worlds greatest stray dog at my feet.

Cigarette smoke, traffic, airports, dial-up connections, assholes, flying cockroaches, freezing rain, commuting.

Soccer coaching, martial arts, hiking, skiing & banjo. Visual art is not a hobby, like breathing is not a hobby. (Besides, when I'm very lucky, I get paid. I'm working hard at increasing my luck.)

Yes M - Eternal optimism is exactly what you need to blog a photo.  ha. You are too funny. Don't feel bad. I've had to try a couple times to make it work too. I think this last one I created a word document for my blog piece then copy and pasted it in the normal view of the blog entry. If that doesn't work let me know. {BTW don't forget to hit SUBMIT when your done. otherwise  NOTHING HAPPENS..... (hum, who knew?)   }

Thank you so much for your compliments. I'm truly touched. Nice to know I make a different now and then. Thank you for that.

Marcia, No Skiing, Frozen ink, cleaning.. the bathroom!!!   This is definitely not your Sunday. I am so bummed for you.  We need to turn this day around fast.  First you need ski boot money. How about quick sketches of rich children sitting on Santa’s Lap.  Don't forget the four-legged children. It's hard to get a good shot of them with Santa. No time for an ad in the paper, I'd just go now with your easel and leads. Before you come back home with your oodles of cash for the days work and pre-payment on all the consignments you landed, grab your skis, some more ink and a little heater for them.  How about a reptile heater? They wouldn't get too hot. I bet that would work. Be prepared for your friends to start talking about your little inkbottle pets though.  Just get it over and start the rumors now about your ink buddies.  Letting people see you're a little crazy can come in handy.  Who knows maybe the word will get around and this will end up being your claim to fame and fortune. OMG.  You could pull every day - No work and all pulling. This is perfect!   Oh I'm so happy for you. What a great Sunday!I'm doing great, other than having to go to my non-art work. I'm trying to work on a large commission piece.  It's four - 3-foot by 2-foot paintings. It's the largest I've done so far. Right now I'm in the process of framing them, another first for me. They're built and primed. I'm going to throw some paint on them today before I go to (my non-art) work. I'm excited to get er done and see it all together.  I'll post a quick blog about it to show you.  Glad you're having a Great Sunday.!!!  Talk to you laterJen

Marcia- I love the dogs.  How large are these?  I love animals so this caught my eye.  Plus, I have a golden retriever, and since it has been so cold here in Minnesota,  she doesn't want to go out to potty.  I have to put those booties on her I suppose.  Am I pathetic or what?

I'm trying to figure this "comment" thing out.  I like your work. Very nice pencil work. I like detail as well.

To answer your question, I use oils currently. I have migrated through Pencil, watercolor, Luma dyes, acrylic, with some airbrushing scattered here and there.
