Detective and mystery, especially Sue Grafton.

Action and mysteries. Loved the "Mummy" moves, Indiana Jones, etc. Love Sci/Fi...have been a Star Trek fan for 40+ years. Wish a second "Serenity" movie would be made.

I consider myself an abstract colorist. The main emphasis of my work is color - bold, bright.

Also, I am an independent distributor of a highly nutritional juice beverge called MonaVie. If you'd like to know more, check out www.mymonavie.com/LindaCSmith.

Plenty of sunshine. New tubes of paint. The smiles of my grandson. Encouragement from my family, especially my husband and daughters. The growth of my two businesses: my art business and my MonaVie business.

Rain. Fog. Gray clouds. A bad cold.

Gardening, reading, traveling, photography and learning new things.

Your work is awesome! I love hte colors you used. My two favorites are the "Pretty Ponies"and "Shirts". There is something very captivating about them.

Thank you for your comment on 'West Germania Street'. To answer your question, it the street where my father grew up in a small mountain town in Pennsylvania. I still have family there in the old home. Love your work!

Wow, you are one busy person! Really like our horses! But how do you find time for all that and art making too?

Linda, thanks for your comments on my painting "New Orleans Trio".  I was inspired to do this piece while listening to Louis Armstrong. I was also touched by the people of New Orlaans after Katrina.

Thanks again,

I think "Studio Art" is a term that delineates between other types of art like "commercial" which generally takes place in an office setting whereas studio art takes place in the artists private work area. However, for me "studio art" is often synonymous with "unemployeed creative mind".

Hey, thanks for the comments. Glad you liked the interview, and I'm sorry you didn't get to stop by Inkspell Books in Half Moon Bay. Great store, great people. If you are ever there again, definitely stop by!

Hi Linda, Thank you for your kind comment on my use of color and for visiting my page. In regard to your question about working larger, it comes down to how you feel about it. Does the idea resonate with your sensibilities? I cannot tell from your posted images how sharp your edges are but the one possible reason for her suggestion is to make the images crisper or perhaps a stronger statement. I would ask your friend to clarify why she feels that this is necessary for her to represent you. Perhaps you could ask your other galleries what they think of the idea too. You never know where a good idea to further your career will come from so if it were me, I’d check it out.

Warm Regards, David

About your poll...I think the art buying public, the upper classes, will be much less effected than the classes that only rarely buy art.  Depending on your collectors, an economic setback will effect your sales.
