Like you I am also a beginner.(I have been teaching myself) It takes practice, practice and more practice. What is most important have fun painting and looking at other paintings and photos and give them a try. Read books and watch art videos and stay inspired. Going to art galleries and art shows are also very helpful. There are others on this web site who are excellent at answering questions. I am very grateful to all who are on this site.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. I would suggest going to galleries that exhibit work that is similar in title to yours. I use to frame artwork and a good resource is the magazines the framing industry use. One good one is "Decor" their site: http://www.decormagazine.com  check out what they are doing. Also find a title that you like and stay with it for a while so that your work holds together when being presented.  The subscription to Decor is Free. Also look at  Art Business News Free also. Both have shows in different areas of the country.

I hope this helps.

Hey! Are those geese a photo?  They look like a photo but the boat looks like a painting - or pastel; can't tell.  If those geese are a pinting, I want instruction from you on how to paint water.  Tell us more - show us more - we love it.  P.S. Welcome to the site.   me

Welcome to the sight!  Try Jack White's art books, they are AWESOME.  They have been instrumental in many strides I have made over the past year.  Go to www.senkarik.com and click on books.  Start with "The Mystery of Making It"-it's really easy to read and SOOOOOOO informative.  Let me know if I can help you in any way!

you asked me about art marketing- Art Calendar has a book- art marketing 101. I did art fairs for several years initially. The important thing is to have a cohesive body of work.

Thank you for your comment about Josef - He is a lion I worked closely with at an animal actor's compound in Salinas California - and since you worked with them yourself, your insight into my painting of him means a lot more to me.  You stated you are new to painting.  I would love to share part of my own journey with you.  What are your interests - what media are you drawn to?
