I spent most of my secondary education in the art room. Any spare time that I had I was drawing, painting, or sculpting. Not much has changed over the years. After high school I went off to college. Gave it a shot and decided it wasn't for me. So I took off for the Bering Sea to become a commercial fisherman. I fished for about five years. After a knee injury I decided I was ready for school again. This time I knew what I wanted to do. Study art. I wanted to know everything there was to know. And so began the rebirth of my art.

I work in three different mediums. I paint original abstract paintings on canvas using a brush and palette knife. I work mostly in oils, but am branching out with acrylics and mixed medias. I also create abstract figurative bronze sculptures in a female form. I use line and texture as well as simplicity to convey my ideas. The last of the mediums I like to work in is photography. While studying abroad in Italy, I learned the skills of printing in the darkroom. With education and the experience of running a local photo shop, I have acquired a taste for the darkroom and all it has to offer. I hand process images in my darkroom from time to time when I'm not in the studio painting or sculpting.

Welcome to my world of art.

Hi,  enjoyed looking through your gallery....I love the reds and oranges with a little of the aquas, very energizing yet peaceful combinations....

As a fisherman did you see many amazing sunsets out at Sea?  Your paintings make me think of Ocean sunsets.....

I took a closer look at 'Reflections' and it's something else! Incredible energy in your brush stroke. The blue (what is it?) next to the gray in the second piece. Divine. I love the top left  in the first piece . . . it pulls you into it's stillness. You understand how to create depth sistah'. I am excited to see more.

To answer your question - I do sell my work.  Feel free to visit amykomar.com for pricing on current pieces. And/Or - if you like - I can send you an invitation to my First Annual Sale - there are approx. 20 paintings from 2005 - 2007....I had to honor the New Year in some way, so I figured I'd send some art out : )

Thanks for checking out my blog. Did you subscribe to it? You'll get all my crazyness emailed to you as I post new images! Shameless, I know:) I just added something new for me : Credit Card Art - tell me what you think! I love your color usage. I have a hard time with abstractions. I have to use a weak part of my brain to do it. Hope to see more of your stuff soon. Chao -Jared K
