I spent most of my secondary education in the art room. Any spare time that I had I was drawing, painting, or sculpting. Not much has changed over the years. After high school I went off to college. Gave it a shot and decided it wasn't for me. So I took off for the Bering Sea to become a commercial fisherman. I fished for about five years. After a knee injury I decided I was ready for school again. This time I knew what I wanted to do. Study art. I wanted to know everything there was to know. And so began the rebirth of my art.

I work in three different mediums. I paint original abstract paintings on canvas using a brush and palette knife. I work mostly in oils, but am branching out with acrylics and mixed medias. I also create abstract figurative bronze sculptures in a female form. I use line and texture as well as simplicity to convey my ideas. The last of the mediums I like to work in is photography. While studying abroad in Italy, I learned the skills of printing in the darkroom. With education and the experience of running a local photo shop, I have acquired a taste for the darkroom and all it has to offer. I hand process images in my darkroom from time to time when I'm not in the studio painting or sculpting.

Welcome to my world of art.

Nope, not any shows, per se.  At least, nothing too exciting.

I have paintings on display in 4 different galleries, and that's keeping me pretty swamped.  :)

I'm glad you're on here too!

You know, it is bizarre - 50 degrees this week! The snow is melting, the trees are popping and it is light now until 8 at night! Woo-hoo! I think spring is arriving . . .When I think about  spring/summer unfolding - I hear My Morning Jacket singing "sunlight multiplying" and that is a treasured event up here!

Where did you fish? A good friend of mine has a boat in Amook Island/Larsen Bay and I visited this past summer and fished for a day. You are a tough woman! That is hard work ! I loved being out on the water though and Alaska never skimps on a view.

The nine muses, eh? You conveyed them so well, so original! I simply love them all.

i went to your site, or should i say sites to see your work...really nice collection of art, you are like me, working in several media. which of the sites you have joined have worked out best for you? also, btw, the address for my blog is wrong. the correct word turns into the word title on this site...its the weirdest bug. so i can't give you the right word! anyway, you probably went to the link from my art site.

what is the address of your blog? and no i don't mind at all if you link to me.

:)
