Always on in my studio in a wide ranging variety.

Incessantly reading...it would be too much to put a detailed listing here!

I have a fairly large collection because I don't watch regular - or even cable! - TV. My TV only gets turned on to play DVD's. That way I can see what I choose when I want.

HI Karen:

There is a new group you might be interested in viewing.  It's under groups and is called Marketing.  There are starting to be a lot of good ideas posted there.  You're are welcome to check it out. It's under the View All button in the Groups section. Barbara

You really had me confused there regarding title.  I kept getting closer and closer to the computer screen thinking there must be a difference between that title and that other title.  Anyway had a good laugh.  Thanks.  Now I understand.

This Saturday, I am going to get trained to volunteer at a horse ranch that takes mentally and physically disabled children on horseback rides.  I have never been around horses much but this opportunity to volunteer just fell in my lap.  I feel it could open up new worlds -  the children and the horses.  I have love to give but no little ones around to give it to at this time.  So I am excited.

I loved what you counseled and will continuing reading it until it sinks in.  The way of thinking that I have now I have lived with for so long that it is hard to change.  I do agree with what you say, but like I said it needs to sink in.  Thanks for the words.   Have a great weekend!   A blank canvas stretching out before us.........aaahhhh.

Thanks so much for your kind words. The piece you commented about is made up of different layers of fabrics with several different phototransfer techniques from my own photography. I also incorporated silver foil-just as you guessed!  Thanks, Michele

Hi Karen,  Wow!, after your message I feel like you are very similar to me.  I have met some wonderful people here at this website and you are very easy to visit with.  Love your personality and blogs, etc. Love your candid remarks and honesty- we need more of that.  Thank you so much for your kind comments.  Yes, I love horses and have been around them when I was little. Aftter my last experience riding, I am giving up the saddle for awhile. I had a crazy horse that liked rubbing riders into trees- HA! Still, there is nothing more beautiful than a horse.

The Christian contemporary crosses are a new series I am attempting to explore and develop more.  It has been so much fun and will continue to expand this subject.  These are very popular with the young teens and young adults.  Your website is awesome and is very easy to get around.  I will be back to visit with you-   Abundant blessings to you-     Deb

Thank you.  You are so very generous.  Really.  You gave me so much information and encouragement.  Some parts I was reading through tears.  I guess I felt a little whiney after I wrote you and did not expect you to even consider me worth your time and efforts.  But you did and God bless you for that.  I would love to send you my books if there ever is a time you feel comfortable giving me an address.  Just because I like to share them.  They are a big part of me.  I preach to myself.  I just love Beatrix Potter and loved the movie "Miss Potter" because the movie showed her talking with her little characters; they were real to her.  I guess I always felt a little different because I do that.  My characters teach me things and remind of things when I am in certain situations as if they were real.  They are my second babies.  I have four children and then I have my book characters.  The two that really speak to me are Tess, a thistle, and Emby, a little blind mole.  I am sure you know what I mean when I say "speak."  I am not crazy.  You know how it is when a painting comes alive to you and you are actually in the middle of it.  I have a picture of some dancing ladies and each time I look at them I smile cause I feel like I have been right there amongst them, beads of sweat on my brow. I am trying to get a good picture of it so that I can get it on scuttlebutt.  It is large and my camera does not do it justice.  When I share it I will let you know so that you can look it up.

I do have trouble with one thing.....that is titling, as you can probably notice.  None of my works have titles.  It is the hardest thing, other than pricing my work, that I deal with at the time.  I have even changed titles and I know that is something that should not be done.  It is very hard for me to come up with a title.  But I will try harder at it.  That will be a major step for me.  Even my website does not have titles on any of  the pictures.

Now I got to go look up that society and that post card maker you mentioned.  Please add me to your friends list.  I definitely will visit your web site often and get inspiration.  I am very glad I made your acquaintance.  I feel God gave me a special little gift, a little gift of inpsiration from a very special person.  Awesome how he does that.  The connections He makes with golden threads.

THANKS AGAIN!!!

Lana

kl,

Please take time to read my whole comment.  I have been looking at  all the pictures in this site and then I landed on yours and I felt like I had connected to something very special.  I visited your website and was fascinated.  You see, you are doing what I have dreamed of doing for so long.  I have been drawing ever since I can remember but never had any direction.  The community and familiy I grew up in did not seem to know where to direct me either.  I feel strongly I could have gotten an art scholarship but it was unheard of where I went to school.  So I just have kept my passion as a hobbie.  I am a medical transcription superivisor at a hospital and so I do not get many hours with my art.  I have written four children's stories and illustrated them  and also a book of poetry. I had them spiral bound and have sold some and gotten a lot of good comments but as of yet they are still my babies and I have sent them no where.  My biggest dream is to illustrate someone else's book for a publisher.  I want  my spirit challenged to see what I can com up with.  I know deep down it is in me.  I feel just like you do that God moves threw me and it comes out art.  It is Him not me.  I paint the joy He gives me.  Please visit my website -  lanafrostart.com.  What would be your advice for me to be considered by a publishing company for illustration of one of their books?  I have no college degree.  I have no professional training.  I feel no one is going to listen to me. I live in a very small town in Arizona.  I was sending out postcards to publishers but I always think that they would disregard me because I have no formal training.  Do I even have a chance?  I would love to hear from you.  The beauty and wimsy in your work just speaks to me.  I love it.  There is detail but goes beyond realty.  You put the sparkle in it. You have inspired me.  I am expecting my very first grandchild and will be writing a book to him/her and just looking at your paintings has inspired me to go beyond what I am doing now.  THANK YOU for that.  Hope to hear from you.

Lana
