Thanks again for taking the time to look at my work.  Yes, the dancers were fun to paint....(one of my favorite figrative subjects) I like to use expressive color, and you're right...I felt it was important to reduce the reflected dancer to almost a figment....as though she almost isn't there...

ANyway..thanks again for your kind words.  Best wishes for a terrific week ahead....I'm off to the studio!

Greetings to my new Art Calendar friend. I believe the title of the pic you asked about is "Three In The Pocket". I saw on your profile that you also play music- it was good to see some musically themed pieces in your gallery. My favorite, however, is "Amaterasu".

Karen,

Thanks for taking the time to stop by, and for your kind words.  Much of the color in this work and most of my abstracts is derived from copper, gold leaf and chemically-induced patinas.  Of course I had to check out your gallery as well.  I enjoyed your work, and, I have to say, my clear favorite is Amaterasu.  I loved the expressive color scheme, composition, textures--this one has  mood that is most striking.

Best regards,

Steve

Very interesting work...  the dramatic blacks give it a wood block feel.  I love "Casting Shadows"
